Research shows that Resveratrol may help fix the damage done by smoking.

A New study in the Journal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology suggests that Resveratrol that Resveratrol protects against Cigarette Smoke-Induced Oxidative Damage and Pulmonary Inflammation. In the study mice exposed to cigarette smoke showed elevated levels of pulmonary inflammation cells, coupled with elevated production of tumor necrosis factor A and interleukin-6 bronchoalveolar large fluids.

Resveratrol reduced cigarette smoke induced inflammation.

In a separate study carried published by the US National Institutes of Health, research scientists at Turin University, Italy have discovered that a trans resveratrol supplement may reduce the damage smoking does to the lungs heart and other organs.

The peer reviewed, double blind study involved 50 healthy smokers. The trans resveratrol reduced inflammation and other signs of heart and lung damage from the toxic ingredients in cigarette smoke.

Researchers also found that trans resveratrol protects against cardiovascular damage.

These results should not be construed as a pass to start or keep smoking but rather that former smokers and current smokers looking to quit may find assistance in supplements like trans resveratrol to attenuate the damage caused by smoking.
